เป็นครั้้งแรกของผมที่มาเลเซียครับ โดยมากแล้วถ้าไม่จำเป็นจริงๆผมมักไม่เลือกเดินทางมาแถบประเทศเพื่อนบ้าน ไม่เพราะอะไรหรอกนะครับ ผมชื่นชอบกับCivilization ของต่างประเทศมากกว่า ก็เลยขอเดินทางไปดูต่างบ้านต่างเมืองอย่างยุโรปหรืออเมริกาก่อนเท่านั้น แต่พอเอาเข้าจริงๆเวลาทำธุรกิจกลับต้องติดต่อกับประเทศเพื่อนบ้านในแถบอาเซียนมากยิ่งขึ้น ที่หนีไม่พ้นก็คงเป็นสิงค์โปร์ ประเทศนี้ไม่ต้องมีอะไรเป็นของตนเองซักอย่าง ขายเก่งทำการตลาดเก่งก็เพียงพอแล้วที่เขาจะสร้างมูลค่าเพิ่มให้กับประเทศของเขาจนถือว่าเป็นผู้นำเศรษฐกิจในแถบอาเซียนมาช้านานแล้ว

อีกประเทศหนึ่งที่ถือว่าเป็นเสือของอาเซียน ก็คงหนีไม่พ้นมาเลเซียครับ ก่อนที่มาที่นี่ ผมสงสัยอยู่ตลอดเวลาว่าบ้านเราจะแพ้ประเทศอย่างมาเลเซียได้อย่างไร มาแล้วจึงเข้าใจมากขึ้นว่า เขาจัด Infrastructure ได้ดี ค่าครองชีพต่ำกว่าบ้านเรา ถ้าเป็นชาวบ้านธรรมดา ค่าครองชีพน่าจะเท่ากับเราเมื่อสัก 5-10 ปีก่อน พูดเฉพาะค่าครองชีพนะครับ แต่เมื่อมามองเรื่อง Value for money ผมว่าเขาเหนือกว่าเยอะ อย่างรถเมล์ของเขาก็ราคาประมาณ 1 RM (ประมาณ 10บาท) คุณภาพก็เทียบเท่ารถ Coach บ้านเรา รถไฟฟ้านี่ถูกกว่าครึ่งๆเห็นจะได้และมีเครือข่ายครอบคลุมทั่วเมือง Taxi ก็เริ่มตนที่ 2 RM และเพิ่มขึ้นทีละ 1 บาทเท่านั้น (ต่างกับบ้านเราที่เพิ่มทีละ 2 บาท-แต่รถบ้านเราใหม่กว่า)

อีกเรื่่องซึ่งถือเป็น Hi-light ที่ผมอยากมาเล่าให้ฟังคือ การเชื่อมต่อ internet ครับ Starbucks ที่นี่เขาให้เล่น internet ฟรีทั่วประเทศ ทุกสาขาที่ Starbucks เปิด คุณเพียงเอา Notebook ไปวางก็เชื่อมต่อ internet ได้ทันที
ที่ประทับใจยิ่งกว่านั้นคือ หนังสือพิพม์ StarMetro ที่แจกให้ผมหน้าห้องพัก กล่าวว่า เมื่อวานนี้ เมือง KL หรือ Kuala Lumpur เพิ่งจะเปิดตัวโครงการใหม่นั่นคือ KL wireless metropolitan คือการเปลี่ยนเมืองทั้งเมืองให้สามารถเชื่อมต่อ internet ได้ด้วย Technology Wi-Max 2.3 GHz
ทำให้ไม่ว่าคุณจะเป็นใคร จะอยู่ที่ไหนใน KL ก็สามารถเชื่อมต่อ internet ได้ฟรี ด้วยความเร็วประมาณ 512 Kb เขายังบอกต่ออีกว่า KL เป็นเมืองแรกๆในโลกนี้ที่จะได้สัมผัส Technology ดังกล่าว ไม่รู้จริงเท็จแค่ไหน แต่ผมได้อ่านแล้วก็ยังรู้สึกอิจฉาคนของเขาไม่ได้

โครงการแบ่งออกเป็น 2 ช่วง โดยช่วงแรก คือทำ wireless networks ให้เรียบร้อยส่วนช่วงที่สองก็จะทำ Portal site ชื่อ www.kul.com.my ขึ้นมา ในช่วงแรกก็จะมีการติดตั้ง 1,500 Wi-Fi Zones ภายในสิ้นปีนี้ (อะไรนะ !!! ภายในสิ้นปี !!! ) และถึงวันนี้เขาได้ติดตั้งไปแล้วกว่า 200 จุด หลังจากนั้นในช่วงที่สอง Wi-Fi Zones อีกกว่า 2,000 จุดจะถูกติดตั้งภายในสิ้นปีหน้า ด้วยงบลงทุน 60 ล้าน RM หรือประมาณ 600ล้านบาท ด้วยวิสัยทัศน์ของรัฐบาลที่จะพัฒนาอุตสาหกรรมไอทีให้ทัดเทียมกับมาตรฐานสากล โดยวิสัยทัศน์เช่นนี้ยังมีการกำหนดเป้าหมายว่าในปี 2010 ครึ่งหนึ่งของครัวเรือนจะต้องเชื่อมต่อ internet ได้ (อืมม....ผมชอบวิสัยทัศน์แบบนี้จัง) ยิ่งไปกว่านั้นหนังสือพิพม์ยังบอกต่ออีกว่านี่เป็นส่วนหนึ่งในการพัฒนาประเทศซึ่งจะทำให้มาเลเซียกลายเป็นประเทศที่พัฒนาแล้วในปี 2020

วันนี้คุณสามารถลงทะเบียนเพื่่อใช้ Wireless ดังกล่าวได้แล้วที่ www.wirelesskl.com ส่วน Portal site www.kul.com.my ก็จะใช้เป็น one-stop information center ที่รวบรวมทุกเรื่องราวในเมืองแห่งนี้เข้าไว้ด้วยกัน เฮ้อ...เห็นอย่างนี้ในต่างประเทศที่ไร ผมก็แอบน้อยเนื้อต่ำใจเล็กๆ ทุกครั้ง แต่ก่อนเวลาไปแถบยุโรปหรืออเมริกาก็อาจรู้สึกเช่นนี้ แต่วันนี้ความรู้สึกดังกล่าวมันเข้ามาใกล้ตัวมากขึ้น "เพื่อนบ้านเราเขายังทำได้เลย" ดังก้องอยู่ในใจของผมและมันดังขึ้นเรื่อยๆทุกวัน ผมเองไม่เคยยอมแพ้หรือกครับ และหวังว่าท่านผู้อ่านก็จะรู้สึกเช่นเดียวกัน ผมขอเรียกความรู้สึกแบบนี้ว่า "ความประทับใจที่ต้องเอามาเป็นพลัง" ขอพลังจงอยู่กับพวกเราชาวไทยทุกคนครับ !!!
